On 6th October, an enthusiastic group of forty Year 9 students departed for the Catalu–a region of Spain, to a town called Coma-Ruga which is on the coast, outside of Barcelona. 

Many activities had been planned to keep the students amused and to help them get to know Spain a bit better.  Firstly, an afternoon was spent at the monastery of Montserrat, which is a place of pilgrimage set in breath-taking scenery and reached by a very hair-raising train ride!  The next day included an amazing visit to the city of Barcelona where the students visited Gaudi's Parc Guell, shopped at the Boquer’a market in Las Ramblas  and  took lots of photos at the Nou Camp Stadium. A trip to the theme park Port Aventura further down the coast in Salou at the end of the 5 days was a favourite with everyone.   

Two mornings were reserved for Spanish lessons - a bit of a shock to the students who were in "holiday mode", but they did enjoy the lessons nevertheless. A tapas lunch (with way too much food) and some lovely relaxation on the beach in the sun were the remaining factors in this busy trip. Mrs Hutcheson, trip organiser, would like to thank those students on the trip who behaved so well and who were a pleasure to be with for 5 days.
