Year 8 French Trips 1st-10th July 2013
This year’s ‘La Grande Decouverte’ was an exciting, action-packed adventure. Students explored the cobbled streets of Boulogne old town, adorned with brightly-coloured berets and sunglasses purchased from the market stalls – an amusing sight for the locals! After this they were really on a roll, making croissants at a local boulangerie.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Day two began with a solemn reflection at Etaples War Cemetery. We then visited the pretty sea-side town Le Touquet, where the students impressed the teachers by buying their own picnic lunches (“Miss, what’s French for ‘baguette’?”). A visit to a bee museum had the students buzzing - and their bee-hive-iour was good, too! Now, where would you find Dr Who, Donkey Kong and Darth Vader? At the last night fancy dress party, as the theme was the letter D. Everyone had a whale of a time skating around Nausicaa, one of the biggest sea-life centres in Europe, on day three – it boasted all the marine life you could fish for! The final stop was confectionary factory Bec a Suc – you could say that we all had a sweet time!
